Deckover Tilt vs. Equipment Trailer: Which One Should You Rent?
In Colorado Springs, our 24 ft deckover tilt rents for $150/day and our 22 ft equipment trailer for $125/day, and both carry a 14,000 lb GVWR. Pick the deckover tilt for low-clearance machines, wide loads, and vehicles that can't climb ramps: the whole deck tilts to an 11-degree angle. Pick the equipment trailer for skid steers, mini excavators, and compact tractors when ramps work fine and you'd rather keep the $25/day.

What is a deckover tilt, and why does it matter?
A deckover trailer builds the deck above the wheels instead of between the fenders, so the full 102-inch width is usable from edge to edge. Ours also tilts: the whole deck lowers to an 11-degree loading angle, which means no ramps to set and no steep climb. That matters for anything with low ground clearance, anything wide enough to rub a fender, and vehicles that would scrape or high-center on a ramp approach.
When is the 22 ft equipment trailer the better pick?
When ramps are no problem and you want the lower rate. The 2026 Lamar 22 ft equipment trailer has a payload capacity over 10,000 lbs, which covers most skid steers, mini excavators, and compact tractors with attachments. For a contractor moving one machine to a job site and back, it's our most-booked heavy trailer, and it saves $25 a day or $150 a week against the deckover.
Looking for a gooseneck?
We don't currently rent gooseneck trailers. If you were searching for one because you need a long, wide, flat deck for equipment, the 24 ft deckover tilt often covers the same job within its 14,000 lb GVWR. If your load is heavier than that, you need a larger commercial trailer, and we'll tell you so rather than put you on the wrong one.
What does your truck need?
Both trailers have a 14,000 lb GVWR and electric brakes, so your tow vehicle needs a tow rating that covers the loaded trailer, a hitch rated for it, a 7-way connector, and a working brake controller. Our guide to trailer brakes and brake controllers in Colorado explains what to check. Strap every machine at four points; the FMCSA cargo securement rules are the standard professionals follow, and our skid steer loading guide walks through it step by step.
What we tell renters at the yard
We ask two questions: how low is the machine, and how wide is it? If it clears a ramp easily and fits between the fenders, take the equipment trailer and keep the difference. If it is low, wide, or a vehicle that hates ramps, the deckover tilt pays for itself the first time you load it without a spotter. We're family-owned, we tow these trailers ourselves up Ute Pass and down I-25, and both leave the yard with the winch, straps, and ramps.

Quick answers before you book
What is a deckover trailer?
A deckover trailer has its deck built above the wheels instead of between the fenders, so the full deck width is usable. Our 24 ft Lamar deckover tilt has a 102-inch by 24-foot deck on a 10-inch I-beam frame with a 14,000 lb GVWR, and the whole deck tilts for loading.
Do I need ramps with the deckover tilt?
No. The full-tilt deck lowers to an 11-degree loading angle, so equipment and vehicles drive straight on. Ramps, a winch, and straps still come with every rental, which helps if you are loading something that cannot drive itself.
Do you rent gooseneck trailers?
Not currently. Our heavy trailers are the 24 ft deckover tilt and the 22 ft equipment trailer, both rated at 14,000 lb GVWR. If your load fits within that, one of them usually does the job. Loads beyond that rating need a larger commercial trailer.
What does my truck need to tow a 14,000 lb trailer?
A tow rating that meets the trailer's 14,000 lb GVWR, a hitch rated for it, a 7-way connector, and a working brake controller, because these trailers have electric brakes. Check your truck's ratings before you book; we confirm the hookup at pickup.
