Both rent for the same price, so pick by length: the 22 ft deck for long lumber, steel, and contractor deliveries, the 20 ft for equipment and general hauling. For low-clearance machines or vehicles that can't climb ramps, compare the 24 ft deckover tilt.
Why rent a flatbed instead of an enclosed trailer?
A 102-inch open deck takes pallets off a forklift from any side, carries material too long or wide for a box, and handles dirty loads you would never put inside an enclosed trailer. It is also $50 a day cheaper than our enclosed trailer. The trade-off is weather and security, which we cover in flatbed vs. enclosed.
Securing a flatbed load
Strap every load at four points with the included straps, check the straps again after the first few miles, and tarp anything that can blow off or soak up rain; tarps are the one thing you bring yourself. How wide are your flatbed trailers?
Both flatbed decks are 102 inches (8.5 feet) wide — the maximum legal width — which fits full-size pallets side by side and wide equipment tracks without overhang.
What can I haul on a flatbed trailer?
Lumber, steel, pallets, roofing material, equipment, and vehicles up to roughly 7,000–7,500 lbs of payload depending on the deck. Loads must be strapped and within the trailer's GVWR.
Flatbed or tilt deck — which should I rent?
Rent a flatbed for material and loads you'll lift or roll on with ramps. Rent the 24 ft deckover tilt if you're loading low-clearance machines or vehicles that can't climb ramps — its 11-degree tilt angle removes ramps entirely.
Do I need to bring a tarp for the flatbed?
Yes. The winch, straps, and ramps are included, but tarps are the one thing you bring yourself. Tarp anything that can blow off or that should stay dry, and recheck the straps after the first few miles of driving.
Can you load a flatbed with a forklift?
Yes. The open 102-inch deck can be loaded by forklift from either side or the rear, which is why contractors and suppliers book it for pallets, lumber, and steel. Center the load and keep the heaviest items slightly ahead of the axles.
